It is a privilege to write a letter of support for the SCAATAP program. I was introduced to the program through its author Dr. Kim Hollaway. After perusing the various applications of this program, it occurred to me that it would be the perfect format for my student interns to log their activities during their internship. Because it is based on the ASCA national model it helps the students and the supervisors see what part of their programs are aligned with the standards. As a result of using this program with the school counseling interns many of the supervisors have also jumped on board and are now using it as well. One entire school district has implemented the program and my interns are training the practicing school counselors.
An example of the impact that this program can have came from one of my interns: She handed her supervisor the graphed log sheet of her work for that particular month. Using the great graphing component of the SCAATAP program, she was able to show the supervisor that all she had done that month was monitoring the standardized testing and make up testing. When the supervising school counselor took the graph into her principal to show him that the only thing the school counseling department actually was able to do that month was testing, he immediately responded by removing that from their job description. This was quite an impact on that school counseling department. It changed this school counseling program to help more students.

Thanks for your supportive comments. Your tech support and quick responses are nothing short of outstanding! Also, the student information import process was easy to accomplish, even for a "novice" such as myself.

The more I use SCAATAP the more I discover how wonderfully designed it is. Working at two sites I have to maintain two separate sets of records and SCAATAP’’s ability to adapt to multiple schools has made my record keeping much more organized (and readable). And next year if I have another school site assigned to me I feel confident SCAATAP will be invaluable in sorting out all my labors, providing me with precise summaries of all my endeavors. Thank you for such a remarkable tool to keep counselors sane, even when the work load isn’’t.

I would highly recommend SCAATAP (School Counselor Accountability and Task Analysis Program). It is directly linked to the ASCA standards and is very reasonable in cost. Additionally, the staff is extremely helpful. I have even gotten return phone calls/emails on Saturday afternoons. The software is pretty amazing. The hard part is training ourselves to log everything we do.

I love the program. I love its simplicity, its thoroughness and its friendly manner of accepting information. THANKS FOR CREATING SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SYSTEM, especially one that is so compatible with the way counselors think.
It has enhanced my perception of all that I am accomplishing in the span of the day. From crisis intervention, to individual planning, to parent meetings. And from this composite visualization I am able to better plan my productivity and thus, be of greater asset to the students and teachers.
For the first time in many moons, I feel validated in my labors. As well as supported by the raw strength that accompanies data.
Thanks Dave and Kim, you did better than good!!! You've crafted a tool with sensitivity and the ability to speak in quiet meticulousness.

I have used SCAATAP since the fall of 2003. SCAATAP is an easy way to show administrators and board members how I spend my time. Since budget cuts have been a major issue in our school, I want to be able to use data to illustrate the importance of my time and how I spend it. It is also beneficial for me to see if I am spending the appropriate amount of time in each of the delivery systems (guidance, individual planning, responsive services, and system support). It has been a valuable tool in a time where schools seem to be driven by data. I would recommend SCAATAP to any professional school counselor who wants to keep an account of how he/she uses his/her time.

Your recent email prompted me to let you know how much I am looking forward to using SCAATAP this year. I want you to know that your program rivals chocolate ice cream. Well, maybe not, unless as a counselor you serve 500 plus children, desire to help them through developmental milestones and still love your job. Can't wait to use it!

We LOVE the program. Our only problem is getting used to taking advantage of it. When we purchased it the school year had already begun. My hope for this next school year is to get us started using it right away. We are wanting to collect data for accountability and evaluation purposes. SCAATAP makes that daunting task much easier. I just hit my 900 entries mark yesterday! I didn't realize it was that high, plus I know that I often forget to put some entries in for little things, and I didn't' start using it until September. I know there is no way that I would have accurately kept track of all these activities without this program. It really has been wonderful, so I wanted to pass this on.

As an elementary school counselor with 540 students, it has always been a huge undertaking to keep track of students I see, parents I meet with, conferences, outside agency contacts, etc. I kept monthly statistics (by hand) but knew there had to be a better way.
Thanks goodness I found SCAATAP! Not only does it allow me to keep track of all I do, it also aligns with our standards. This is invaluable in this era of accountability. The best part is when I have had a question and send an E-mail, I get a timely response from the DSK staff.
I highly recommend SCAATAP to anyone!

Last Fall, because of my dual technology and counseling background, I was asked to develop a system through which all the counselors in our District could electronically log their activities. A primary purpose of the logs was to be able to aggregate general information about counselor activities for a report to the Board of Education. At the same time one of our counselors suggested that we take a look at SCAATAP as a possible application that would meet our needs.
Following an extensive evaluation of SCAATAP and demonstrations presented by our staff to all our counselors, the decision was made to purchase a license for each counselor. We found that SCAATAP encompasses virtually all the activities and tasks our counselors undertake; maintains confidential data in a secure fashion; readily expands with new tasks; installs without difficulty; permits us to make use of electronic staff and student data from our existing information system to obviate the need to re-key that information; effortlessly generates the reports we need; provides recall of detailed information for the counselor; and is easy for our counselors to use once they have had training and practice daily use. Its alignment with standards is critical given our State's focus on standards and accountability throughout the educational system.
Speaking from my technology background I have never experienced a more responsive and technologically competent level of support than that provided by SCAATAP personnel. Their friendly, patient, and instructive approach will be appreciated by counselors and technicians alike. Our District had a need that was not addressed in the then-current version of the software; SCAATAP personnel readily addressed our need and worked together with us to insure that a future version of the software would incorporate our requirements.
If you need to maintain counseling logs of any desired level of detail in an electronic database - and I can't imagine why one would prefer pencil and paper in today's hectic and accountable world, then don't bother to design and program one in house; order SCAATAP. I just wish it had been around when I was a practicing counselor!

To Inquiring Customers:
My name is Shelley Lovell. I am a School Counselor for Kindergarten through Eighth grade students in Thompson Falls, Montana. My caseload is about 350 students. I purchased the SCAATAP program to assist me in documenting and reporting time management. The reports are assisting me in validating my effectiveness and changing perceptions about how I spend my time. The mechanics of the program work beautifully and are extremely user friendly. The usefulness of the reports has been priceless.
I customized SCAATAP to suit my environment. Along the way I discovered some minor program bugs. I reported these bugs through DSK Software’s web site and received immediate response. All questions and system problems were addressed promptly and cheerfully. Their service went past my expectations and they even called me to make sure their understanding of my problems was accurate. They have been delightful to work with.
As a result I am beginning to really utilize this program to justify and document the work I do. The response from my administration has been supportive. The graphics depicting the use of my time resulted in changes in the perception of what I accomplish daily as well as supported the value of my position. I accomplished this in two weeks!
I fully support this program. DSK’s follow up and support has made all the difference. They have been there to make this system work for me. Fellow counselors I am telling you straight up –– this system is worth every penny. I hope you will use the trial version to see how you can make it work for you. Don’t tell DSK, but I think it is worth three times the price. I am available for E-mail inquires if you would like to discuss this system from a counselor’s viewpoint. I have received no compensation for this testimonial. I just like the system and want to repay DSK Software for their considerable time and effort to make this system sing for me.
Sincerely,
Shelley Lovell School Counselor Thompson Falls School District Thompson Falls, MT 59873 slovell@blackfoot.net

What a miracle SCAATAP has been to me and my counseling program! I am forever searching for a "program" (database, spreadsheet, etc.) to document my daily work that is as organized as I am, and I have found it. SCAATAP is the best! I have ALL the standards at my fingertips! I just click on the standard I utilized, click on the student or teacher name, make any notes I would like and there it is!! Plus, besides all the counseling standards, there are responsive services with lists of various individual and group counseling, plus consultation choices. Same thing here...click...click, make a note if I'd like and press post! Another bonus is that I can add any new subject to the individual planning area, responsive services, or system support areas! As a school counselor, we wear so many different hats that it is sometimes difficult to account for our time appropriately because we may have been making a classroom schedule for the community agency coming in to discuss safety with our classes, or making certificates for an upcoming awards assembly, or searching through our storage for a backpack or pencils for a needy child. SCAATAP has it all covered! There is "system support" that allows us to account for our time in that area, and individual planning for more individualized attention to our staff and students. Needless to say, all of the reasons above are reasons to invest in SCAATAP. But wait! There's more (ha ha)! You can print out graphs, individual reports, teacher reports, student reports, any report you want! My Principal was thrilled to see how much of my time is spent in direct service to our students, or was interested to see how much time one project took of my time that kept me out of the classroom. There is data to support the need for our positions! Get SCAATAP, use SCAATAP, and you'll love it! I am the only counselor in my school and have been using SCAATAP for over 2 months. I even presented it to my district who is interested in having all our counselors use this program to help us track our students, standards, and generate helpful reports. Thank you, SCAATAP, especially Kim and Dave!

SCAATAP is extremely helpful! I have been able to create great visual reports that show where I have spent my time. The program itself is very flexible by allowing us to edit, add our own topics, cut and paste, etc. which has been very useful to me so I can customize it for my school and my needs. It is quick to use everyday, and actually gives me a great place to reference what lessons I taught or what information I covered with a group, which I rely on frequently. I also love that I can have the specific topics and information I covered with an individual student instantly if a parent comes in or calls about their child. SCAATAP has made the accountability part of the job much easier and less stressful.
Thanks so much...it is a blessing!
